Northern Star Boudoir is confident in making one solid guarantee: In this very moment, you are enough. You're more than enough, you're deserving of an experience that elevates your relationship with your body. There are a multitude of reasons people sign up for boudoir. It's not just a cliche gift we see in movies. For some, they might be rewarding themselves. Perhaps you overcame an addiction and this is meant to serve as a symbol of strength over the battles you’ve won. Maybe you grew up in a family that was particularly unkind when it came to accepting and celebrating one's own body. Every human knows what it's like to be bombarded with images each and every single day of unrealistic, unhealthy standards of beauty. Although we are not licensed therapists in any capacity, we do believe safe moments like these in the studio have the potential to heal us from within. Whether your reasons are simple or complex, we want to hear your story. We're grateful each of ours is different. It reminds us that no matter what, we're still pretty damn special. That calls for a celebration.

Unless you're a performer, I think we can all agree that boudoir is a fairly private event. We'll be working in close quarters and we want everyone to feel as safe as possible. Full disclosure, I, Yeti, am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and violence, so having healthy boundaries and communication is extra important to me. That means having a third person there that you're comfortable with. My life and business partner, Vanessa, accompanies me on these adventures, unless you prefer to have a friend of your choosing there. V also has a selection of Catherine D'Lish robes and other articles of clothing you can borrow during the one hour session. If you choose to use an elegant robe, V will have to be present. If you'd like to add your partner as a participant, we do charge $100 on top of the regular $450 session fee, due to the increase in post production required to finish the photos. These sessions are ONE HOUR and time goes by FAST. Lighting has to be setup or changed, sets have to be reorganized, hair, makeup, changing clothes; these are all things that are very time consuming. If you don't want to feel like you're rushing a bit, and you want a more curated experience, I would add ONE MORE HOUR for $100. This enables us to setup even more lighting combinations and ensures a fair amount of variety in your proofing gallery.

Because this is a new segment of our business, we're offering introductory pricing of $450 per session, the studio rental included. You can expect to yield 10-15 fully edited photos that are available for digital download in your own online gallery. Typical turnaround is 2 weeks during the winter months and 3 weeks during the summer months. (I can always be talked into giving a sneak peek) Before your session, a 20 minute planning meeting is available via video visit to go over your thoughts and expectations.

Your privacy and mental health are paramount to us. We never share photos, unless they've been approved by you, the client. It goes without saying, minors are not allowed to participate. No exceptions. Your images are backed up on an encrypted hard drive that is not connected to the internet. Humor is such a big part of our brand, but we're serious about keeping your information safe. There's a great deal of talented photographers in the Twin Cities and beyond, so, your trust means a lot.
